Religion and politics in Florence
During your stay in Florence a visit to the complex of the Cathedral is a must! The Baptistery and the Duomo have always been at the centre of the Florentine religious, politic and artistic life.
The Duomo complex includes the Cathedral with its magnificent Dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, the Baptistery, the Bell Tower and the Cathedral Museum.
Many of the visitors who come to Florence want to admire the interior of this most important church in town. The entrance to the Duomo itself is free of charge, therefore during the high season, from March to October, there is always a very longue queue in front of the church. It can take up to two hours to access the cathedral.
However, the Florentine Duomo is a beautiful, but almost empty container. What the visitors do not know is that during the centuries the most precious monuments from the cathedral has been moved to the Cathedral Museum. This is why it is so important to explore the Duomo complex with an expert guide who will help you to get the most of this visit, without wasting your time in long queues.
Together, during our private tour of the Duomo complex we will explore the Cathedral Museum where we will admire Michelangelo’s Pietà, the famous Gates of Paradise , and where we will discover the original works, which decorated the Baptistery, the Cathedral and the Bell centuries ago. We will visit the Baptistery to appreciate the magnificent mosaics covering its dome. Finally, we will climb Giotto’s Bell Tower to enjoy a breath-taking viewon Florence.
If you book this tour during the winter months, from November to March, we can also visit the cathedral. At any time, if you book this tour in advance, and you are interested in climbing Brunelleschi’s dome, you can book your entrance and climb the dome independently. We support you with any necessary information regarding the climb.
Do not trust anybody who tries to sell you a “skip the line” ticket which does not exist! Explore the Duomo complex with an expert guide instead!
