On Wednesday, when the Palazzo Medici is closed, it’s possible to organize this tour visiting San Marco museum.
During the morning tours, from Monday to Friday, it’s possible to add a visit at the Laurentian Library.
The price does not include the costs of the tickets to the monuments.
The Medici family ruled the Grand Duchy of Tuscany from 1532 to 1737 but already from the beginnings of the fifteenth century Medici, through the activity of Giovanni di Bicci, Cosimo il Vecchio, Piero di Cosimo and Lorenzo il Magnifico, guided the politics of the city and influenced its social and cultural life. During our visit we will discover the history of the Palazzo Medici and of the wonderful Magi Chapel. We will visit the Medicean Chapels and the New Sacristy designed by Michelangelo. Finally, we will admire the splendid Basilica of San Lorenzo planned by Filippo Brunelleschi with the Old Sacristy hidden inside, where Brunelleschi and Donatello’s talents generated a balanced and harmonious sacred space.
