Fascinating food tour in Florence

Tuscany is a true paradise for the foodies! It is a homeland to some many of the classic Italian dishes and products: Florentine steaktortelli with potatoes and ragù sauceTuscan pecorino cheese or Chianti wine. There is no a better place where to learn about the secrets of Tuscan cuisine than San Lorenzo market, the biggest covered food market in Florence, the best place for a market tour.

The market tells infinite stories about Tuscany, its traditions, history and inhabitants. Do you know why bread in Florence is unsalted? Have you ever heard about lampredotto or about “nose to tail eating”? Together we can learn about local gastronomic traditions. At the same time, we will discover many fascinating stories from the Florentine history: rivalry between Florence and Pisa, discovery of creamy ice-cream, gastronomic taste at the Medici’s court. During our market tour we will stop at the vegetable stalls to see the seasonal local produce which change into delicious Tuscan dishes: soups like pappa al pomodoropanzanella, artichokes in pinzimonio and much more. By a local olive oil seller, we will learn about the Laudemio, a very special olive oil produced by very few local farms. Then, we will go to the local cheese shop where we will taste some pecorino and various Tuscan cold cuts.

If you want, our market tour can include also wine and ice-cream tastings.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tours with Marco and Marco. Both exceptional knowledge and we learnt a great deal, there are so story in Florence. Fabulous to see the paintings, sculptures and architecture. Also learning a bit about life in Florence today was of interest. Thanks Agata for your recommendations and for organising our tours. Regards, Lisa and John.
Captivating! My husband and I had a wonderful tour of the Uffizi with Marco. We had visited Florence before and wanted to go a little deeper into Medici history and the Uffizi and he obliged. We really enjoyed his insights and willingness to follow our lead. Highly recommend!

This was literally the best tour we have ever been on. Agata was able to personalize the day for us and we learned so much from her! We found this reference simply through an Internet search, and it has now become the highlight of our family trip.

My wife and I just finished a fantastic tour of the Uffizi followed by a wonderful walking tour of Florence. Agata was fantastic she was extremely knowledgeable and made the day extra special. She had obviously worked hard to personalise elements of the tours to my wife and I. The whole experience was superb and I would highly recommend

My family toured both the Uffizi and the Dumo with Agata. She was great! We were touring with two girls, 19 and 21, and she crafted a tour that was very educational and not boring for them( not an easy task) I highly recommend Agata.

Our family had only a few days to see the many historical sights in Florence. Agata did a fabulous job of creating an itinerary for us that embodied the rich history of the Renaissance period. Her extensive knowledge of art, history and the politics of the time was so interesting and informative. Our tours with her were very organized, concise and easy to understand. We would book Agata again and would highly recommend her to anyone visiting Florence. We wish you the best Agata, you made our trip to Florence very special. Thank you!

We booked through Guide Me Florence because Agata’s offerings included custom tours. With just a single afternoon in Florence, we wanted to maximize our chance to experience its rich history. We emailed back and forth a few times to narrow down the sites we’d see into a manageable shortlist and work out the logistics. Three weeks later, we were meeting our guide in front of a bookstore facing the original center of the city. Our guide, Irene, grew up in Florence and has a Ph.D. in anthropology, plus other relevant degrees. For the next three hours, we soaked in the sites, sounds and history as she guided us through busy squares and quiet side streets. We had chosen Santa Croce and Galleria dell’Academia (Michelangelo’s David) as our top priorities. Irene fit in a few other notable stops, weaving in lots of extra architectural notes and cultural commentary as we walked. Her teaching background shows. Some tour guides just spew information. She kept returning to broader themes, such as the shifts in power between church and state. We left this custom tour feeling like we had made the most of our time in Florence.

I recently visited Florence with a large group of friends and relatives, there were 11 of us. I booked Agata from Guide Me Florence to guide our tour of the Uffizi Museum. It was like a private art history class for our group! Agata basically gave us a history of the renaissance leading us through the artworks and showing how they evolved. Obviously, this museum is so large there is no way to see everything in one visit which is why a tour is so valuable. Agata’s knowledge of the subject matter was so extensive, I realized just how little I know about art. After the tour my companions were raving about our experience and couldn’t believe I found such an amazing resource. Next time I am in Florence, I would definitely book another tour with Guide Me Florence. You won’t be disappointed!

We were lucky enough to have Agata as our guide for 4 days and she made our vacation in Florence amazing. Agata worked with us to create an itinerary that focused on our daughter's request for all things Medici as well as a day out in Siena. Lunches were chosen at perfect locations and we never felt rushed or tired. We appreciated the thought Agata put in scheduling breaks and the knowledge she shared. We can't recommend Agata and Guide me Florence enough. We fell in love with Florence and can't wait to go back.
Agata was wonderful.

In early April my wife and I visited Florence and the Val D'Orica area of south Tuscany for three weeks. On two occasions, we had the good fortune to use the services of @GuideMeFlorence for tours and to spend several hours with @AgataChryanowska, an amazingly well-informed guide, who first spent seven hours explaining the intricacies of life in Florence under the Medici reign, the life and works of Leonardo and Michelangelo and where to lunch in style in Florence @Vinievecchisapori. Our second day with Agata was spent in Sienna. Here we learned about how Sienna developed, the importance of the Sienna neighbourhoods, the history and excitement of "The Palio" horse race and all about the art and techniques used in the amazing Siena Cathedral. Once again, she found an amazing place for us to enjoy lunch and she left us with an understanding of the 1000 year old traditions that still impact everyday life in this great city.

Four of us spent a brilliant 5 days in Florence in April 2025. We chose to have a guided walking tour for two and a half hours on our first morning to get a feel for the architecture, art and history of this lovely town. Agata met us at the pre-arranged time and proceeded to provide us with a fascinating description of the buildings, the reason for their location and the history behind their construction and details of their decoration. We walked (easy walking) to around 10 places of interest (this tour did not include entry to any, which suited us as we wanted to select those which we would go into later) and the in-depth knowledge that Agata displayed was astonishing (one tip was, don't blindly enter all Cathedrals because they are so lovely on the outside, often all the money was spent on the outside and the insides can be anti-climatic). This was not one of those tours with 50 people following a distant flag with radio earpieces to hear a commentary. Agata specialises in small, personal tours, where she can speak directly to her audience and engage in conversation and answer questions. Agata was a great guide, highly recommended, and well worth the money.

Niezwykle interesujący sposób opowiadania, profesjonalizm, jej pasja, miły głos i sposób bycia sprawiły, że czas minął nam zbyt szybko, moglibyśmy słuchać jej godzinami. Pani Agato, dziękujemy! Z pewnością jeszcze wrócimy do Florencji. The guided tour of Florence with Agata was an extremely interesting experience. We decided to take a four-hour walk around the city with a visit to two monuments: Santa Maria Novella and the Medici Chapels with the beautiful tomb chapel designed by Michelangelo - the Sagrestia Nuova. In Santa Maria Novella, we were able to admire, among other things, the frescoes of Domenico Ghirlandaio, on which Agata wrote her doctoral thesis, so we received an interesting portion of professional knowledge. Her extremely interesting way of telling stories, her professionalism, her passion, her pleasant voice and manner made the time pass all too quickly, we could have listened to her for hours. Ms Agata, thank you! We will certainly return to Florence again.

My tour with Agata was the highlight of my trip to Florence. Having a dedicated guide through the Uffizi & Accademia changed the entire experience. I learned so much, fell in love with works I’d known previously and discovered many others. It’s clear that Agata is passionate about providing clients with the best possible experience. If I could have her with me at every museum I would jump at the opportunity!

We booked Agata for a three hour private tour for our party of 4 in September of 2024. Based on our requests, she took us through the Uffizi, the Accademia and the Basilica di San Lorenzo. It was wonderful to be free to focus on what we were seeing and leave the logistics to Agata. We enjoyed our tour immensely. Agata is not only extremely knowledgeable but very passionate about what she was showing us. We will definitely be booking again with her on our next trip to Florence in 2025.

My wife and I highly recommend Guide me Florence for a great visit to Florence. Agata, our tour coordinator, did an absolute wonderful job planning a great day that met our interests with all the time constraints we (unfortunately) had. Agata worked very well with us and was a terrific and timely communicator. Our tour guide Francesca, was absolutely incredible. She was able to create an experience that not only covered the “must sees”, but also capture a local flavor. Her lunch selection was great! We were on a tight time schedule, and while I am sure Francesca felt rushed, we never did. And her knowledge and ability to share her vision of the art to this novice at the Accademia Gallery and Uffizi was unapparelled and why I will recommend her to all my friends and family lucky enough to visit Florence.
Fantastic tour. Agata is very knowledgeable and really brought Florence to life for us. Highly recommend.

Agata is the perfect guide for anyone who wants to tour Florence and the Tuscany area. The extent of her knowledge defies expectations. She knows history, art history, architecture, etc. She is also very accomadating. She worked entirely within our schedule and was flexible regarding changes. She also provided us with a list of places to stay and restaurants for dining and let us make the choices. All of her suggestions were ourstanding. We cannot recommend her highly enough.

Agata is an excellent tour guide! Our family hired Agata for a tour of the Uffizi Galleries this summer, and she did a great job curating the Uffizi collection for us. Agata has deep knowledge of Italian art, and was able to clearly explain the importance and historical significance of the key art pieces at the Uffizi. Agata also was very responsive to our questions, and did an awesome job engaging our two teenage kids. We'll certainly try to book Agata again the next time we are in Florence!

Our Dear friends recommended Agata to us to guide us through Florence. Not only did Agata organize all of our reservations and book our tickets, she also clearly is an art historian who is able to teach her clients about the art and architecture of this beautiful city in a way that belies her love for Florence. Memorably, she guided us through the Uffizi Gallery which would have been daunting had we done it alone. I highly recommend her guidance. It surely made our time in Firenze a better one.

We booked a personalized tour of Florence with Agata and we had the most wonderful experience! To start with, Agata planed our tour ideally, keeping in mind that we are a family with kids, arranging our time early enough to avoid the summer heat and crowds and arranged for our tickets. She tried to keep our children interested while explaining everything about the history of Florence. We learnt a lot new and very interesting information about the history, buildings and life of Florence while walking around the city and then visiting the Uffizi. Agata had planned every detail, answered all our questions, she was even so kind to try to involve our youngest one in the whole experience. We will definitely suggest Agata to our friends in the future and we would like to thank her for a memorable tour!

I contacted Agata to arrange a guide. We required one for three separate days. Agata guided for one session, Isabella for another and Laura for another. The quality of their knowledge and delivery is outstanding. Much more than a guide, it would be better to call them historians. So knowledgable but also able to relay the information in a way which is engaging and informative. We were a party of 4 and I cannot praise them enough. Truly excellent. Thank you Agata if we return I will absolutely contact you again.

As a UK school teacher I brought a group of 20 students (16/17-year-olds) to Florence for a four-day trip with Agata as our guide. I cannot praise Agata enough for her knowledge, presentation skills and professionalism. Every aspect of the trip was seamless, with Agata having taken care of bookings, guiding us around and providing ear-pieces and a whisper system where necessary. She managed to keep all of our students engaged and enthused with her detailed subject knowledge and very personable manner. They really loved her. Agata also shared her local knowledge so that we were able to enjoy our down time getting to know the 'real' Florence through excellent cafes, bars and restaurants. I came away from the trip confident that the students had learnt a huge amount and developed a passion for Florentine history and culture, and those going on to sit their History of Art exams had been helped hugely. We all had a fantastic time and this was primarily down to the care that Agata put into this trip for us. We are very grateful and I will definitely be looking to book Agata again for any future trips. Thank you Agata!

I highly recommend Agata as a tour guide. We spent an incredible day and a half touring the Uffizi Gallery, Accademia Gallery, and the Duomo Complex with her. Agata's knowledge and passion for the art and history of Florence was evident in the time we spent with her. Her stories were interesting, relatable, at times humorous, and able to captivate the attention of our entire group including two teenage boys. Agata's narratives brought Florence to life; we would have missed so much on our own. We even found ourselves referencing her stories on the remainder of our trip. She also brought us to a delicious, unique restaurant for lunch which was hidden in a wine shop. I hope to return to the Tuscany region in the future and will definitely book more tours with Agata!

If you are looking for an informative and enjoyable tour experience in Florence, Agata is the guide for you! She led me and my family through the Uffizi, Accademia and Cathedral Complex. Her knowledge of history and art is remarkable. We were able to take what she taught us and apply it in other galleries as we traveled in Italy. The booking/scheduling process via email was easy and I quickly felt confident that Agata was the perfect blend of "expertise with personality" to jive with my family. Our May 2023 tours with Agata were a highlight of our Italy vacation. Thank you Agata!

Agata's deep knowledge of the art and history of the region really shined through, and my two kids (7 and 9) were captivated and really enjoyed the tour. She also took us to two great authentic restaurants for lunch and gave us tips for artisan shops that are worth visiting in Florence. Agata was a magical guide and companion and was definitely one of the highlights of a packed 12 day trip in Tuscany. Four of us planned this trip (two middle-aged couples, old friends) and all four of us fell in love with Agata, her vast knowledge of Florence, Florentine and Italian history, European context, art history, and helped us to make sense and understand the sights in their proper context in history and within the history of art. She is obviously expert, articulate (in multiple languages!), funny, and made the overwhelming experience of trying to see the external sights of Florence, architecture, and the galleries in the Uffizi more manageable. At the end of our day with her, we did not want to leave her; we all wanted to see the rest of Tuscany with her as our guide. Cannot recommend Agata highly enough. She is worth every penny and more! Perhaps the most charming and enchanting and knowledgeable guide we have ever toured with. Ti vogliamo bene Agata!

Florencja odkywa w ten sposób swoje najciekawsze karty historii i staje sie miastem, którego jest nam wciąż mało i do którego chce sie wracać i poznawać kolejne jej sekrety.

Our family took two first-class half—day tours with Agata during our 4 days in Florence: 1/2 day Uffizi and 1/2 day walking tour. Agata is an excellent narrator of the complex history of Florence and effortlessly weaved the story of the notable families and Renaissance artists into a memorable story that kept our whole family, including two teenagers, interested throughout. We highly recommend Agata for anyone wanting to learn more about Italy.

We recently had a full day private tour with Agata in Florence. Agata was incredibly knowledgeable and provided us with so much insight on the history and art of Florence. We also visited local, family-owned shops that showed us the inner-workings of Florence and what makes it so special. We had an amazing day with Agata and highly recommend booking with her!

I had a wonderful time with Agata during the Oltrarno private tour. I'm originally from Florence but I've been living abroad for many years now and I wanted to reconnect with my hometown and appreciate all its beauty. If I could describe this tour in one word it would be AWE. Agata with all her detailed explanations guided me with ease through centuries of history and art, from the Renaissance to our contemporary street art. We visited a few artisans' labs and had the chance to talk to them and to watch their work. It was stunning. A truly unique experience. If you're interested in understanding how the past has influenced the contemporary art scene in Florence I highly recommend Agata's tour.
Agata was a fantastic tour guide for our visit to Florence. Before booking she allowed us to slightly modify one of her tour offerings so that each member of our family got to do something on our must see list. Agata was very knowledgeable, personable and made our experience extra special right down to the spot she suggested for lunch. Would not hesitate to book with Agata again when we next find ourselves in Florence.

A perfect Sunday morning. Agata is truly sweet. Very knowledgeable, really explained the history in an interesting and fun way. Also showed me some street art as it is an interest of mine so it was a great mix. It was my first morning in Florence so it was a perfect introduction to the city. ❤️✨ I highly recommend. 10/10.

Polecamy! Pani Agata wykazała się profesjonalizmem i ogromną wiedzą. O Florencji i Sienie wie chyba wszystko :) Swoimi opowieściami zainspirowała nas do lektury historii Włoch. Luźna atmosfera. Zdecydowanie spełniła nasze oczekiwania.
Pani Agata to wspaniała przewodniczka. Posiada dużą wiedzę, którą przekazuje w sposób ciekawy i przystępny.

Our group of 4 spent a full day touring Florence with Agata. It's one of the best tours we've experienced in our travels. Agata is very passionate and knowledgeable about Florence and it's art, culture and history. We had only 2 days in Florence and were very glad we spent our first day with Agata, getting an overview of the city and some of it's important artwork and landmarks. She was a delightful guide and we enjoyed our time with her. Her costs are very reasonable and she was quick to respond and organize the tour. I would highly recommend spending some time with Agata when in Florence.
Our group of five felt so privileged to have someone as knowledgeable as Agata as our guide for a Florence City Tour last week. All of us have an interest in art history, and Agata's expertise combined with her very apparent love for Florence made for an exceptional morning. The time we spent in Santa Maria Novella was especially compelling. In addition to the magnificent works of art, Agata discussed her own research involving the Tournabuoni Chapel. Everyone was completely engaged, and we found ourselves talking about the tour for the next few days. I should also add that Agata offers concierge tour planning services, and she helped me plan a week of activities that best utilized our time in Florence and took into account everyone's interests. She helped with museum tickets, a boat ride on the Arno, a Fiesole hiking guide (ask her about the amazing Stefano) along with restaurant and shopping suggestions. I found her help to be invaluable. In addition to her passion and the depth of her academic background, it's just a delight to spend time with Agata. I can't think of a more perfect person to have as a guide to this extraordinary city.
Agata is a wonderful guide! She is one of the colleagues I mostly can rely on. I have had some occasions to pass her some clients I couldn't guide and always it has been a guarantee. As art historian, She is highly qualified and can number the publication of some researches on Florentine Art among her competences. It's always a pleasure to collaborate with her. I definitely recommend her as your guide in the homeland of Renaissance
